About Client

Digital Visitor is proud to be the official supplier of user generated content and online video for international tourist board, VisitBritain.

The tourist board have also benefited from hundreds of our online videos which have been used to populate their online travel portal, VisitBritain TV.

VisitBritain expands social media solution further

For just over a year, VisitBritain has been using the Visitor Review social media solution to drive a national social media initiative, enabling online users to upload photos, videos and text reviews to showcase Britain’s destinations and attractions to the world and encourage more visits to Britain.

Since then, regional and national tourist boards in the UK, along with individual tourism providers and individual visitor attractions have also signed up to the social media application and have been taking advantage of this initiative as each review added to a visitor attraction solution is automatically displayed on their local or regional tourist board site, VisitEngland, and VisitBritain– assisting in promoting Britain, whilst also showcasing their attraction to a greater audience.

The next stage of the VisitBritain initiative is to engage with students of universities around the UK to help gather regional content which will go towards the national marketing strategy. Each university will be provided with their own solution, so that students can provide actual reviews and content from their local attractions and destinations.

Justin Reid, Head of Online and CRM for VisitBritain said, “Part of VisitBritain’s remit is not only to promote Britain effectively to an international audience, but also to help inspire more people to become involved in working in the leisure and tourism industry. Involving universities in the national initiative gives students the opportunity to understand and actually participate and influence a live campaign to help promote Britain as a tourism destination.”

To date, both Bath Spa and Bournemouth University will be receiving their own branded Visitor Review solutions and students of selected courses (ie. Tourism & Communications) will be adding their reviews, images and videos of visitor attractions and destinations.

When added to the site all of these reviews, images and photos will automatically be displayed on the VisitEngland and VisitBritain site and become a part of promoting Britain to a global tourism audience, whilst enabling the students to participate in a live social media initiative.

Testimonial

Providing potential visitors with more online information about Britain is one of our key strategies moving forward this year and this, we are sure, will encourage even more people to visit. It's great working with Digital Visitor on this project and with our coordinated efforts we plan to really make the most of the growing trend for social media and UGC.
