Digital Visitor announced as official supplier of user generated content and online video for VisitBritain

VisitBritain launches social media initiative

VisitBritain have partnered with Digital Visitor to provide a new social media and user generated content (UGC) platform for the United Kingdoms’ tourist boards and regional tourism agencies.

This initiative has been put forth as a direct response to the ever-growing need to gather and utilise powerful and attractive traveller information, with UGC proven to be highly beneficial for many aspects of online marketing and promotion.

Known as Visitor Review, this social media platform enables online visitors to share their experiences by uploading photos, videos and text reviews, providing other online visitors with the rich media content and trustworthy tourist information they now search for. Through Visitor Review online visitors will be able to browse all content, add comments to other reviews, rate visitor experiences and more.

This enhancement will give tourist boards and regional tourism agencies all over the UK the ability to gather rich media and user generated content on their own websites. Working with Digital Visitor, each tourist board and regional tourism agency will have its own branded social media solution.

Furthermore, media and content gathered on the individual tourism board websites will be presented on the VisitBritain site, significantly enhancing the exposure of the content and the online profile of the tourist boards and regional tourism agencies across the UK.

The synchronisation of Digital Visitor and VisitBritain is one of the first to have addressed and responded to the increase of social media and user generated content on the internet. Justin Reid, Online Marketing Manager for VisitBritain stated,

It’s great to be working with Digital Visitor on this ambitious project. With our coordinated efforts we plan to really make the most of the growing trend for social media and user generated content. Providing potential visitors with more online information on Britain is one of our key strategies moving forward and this, we are sure, will encourage even more people to visit.

Visitor Review is already being used by an increasing number of destinations, visitor attractions and venues across the UK, however the appointment by VisitBritain is seen as a big step by Digital Visitor.

I am delighted that our national tourist board has taken the leap with this initiative” expressed Anthony Rawlins, Managing Director of Digital Visitor. “As well as major tourism businesses in the UK, Visitor Review is being used by organisations in Australia, South Africa, Canada and Africa however VisitBritain is the first national tourist board to put such an emphasis on the value of their visitors’ comments.

Visitor Review is already up and running on www.visitorreview.com/visitbritain and the two organisations are developing a fully integrated solution which will be presented to tourism boards and regional tourism agencies across the UK over the next few months.
