National Trust HeritageOnline video marketing company Digital Visitor has completed its first project for the National Trust, a two-and-a-half minute video promoting Quarry Bank Mill and Styal Estate in Cheshire, one of the country’s premier industrial heritage sites.
The launch of the video was timed to coincide with the opening for the 2008 season of the ‘Secret Garden’, the picturesque valley retreat which once belonged to the mill owner. The mill itself boasts the most powerful working waterwheel in Europe as well as a restored Apprentice House, millworkers’ village and country estate.
Digital Visitor Director Anthony Rawlins was introduced to Quarry Bank Mill through an existing client Chester and Cheshire Tourist Board.
He said: “Moving images deliver so much impact in the world of tourism and attractions – far more than brochures or conventional websites. This project demonstrates how we are not only able to commission high-quality video all over the country but also to tailor the delivery method to the client’s requirement.
“The National Trust is a great client to add to our portfolio. They were particularly interested in our ability to present the video as a link from their website, either through a pop-up or embedded in a pre-formatted window. We are already talking to them about follow-up projects and hope to be presenting our work to their annual conference in June.
Anthony added: “As a complete, integrated video marketing service – and one that’s affordable, too – it is becoming increasingly attractive to attractions and destinations of all kinds.”
Jane Watson, Marketing Manager at National Trust North West, said: “We have been exploring the world of digital media for some time now and were impressed with the videos and how Digital Visitor could get the message 'out there' on our behalf.
“The opening of a new garden at Quarry Bank Mill was an ideal new product on which to test this and we're thrilled with the results. We hope this will translate into more visitors, and we're exploring similar videos for other properties over the next few months'.
Digital Visitor, founded by Anthony Rawlins and his co-director Simon Jones, counts the SS Great Britain in Bristol, the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh, the Bath & West Showground and Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board among its clients.
