'WEBSITE PUTS ALL SHIP'S VISITORS IN THE PICTURE'
"Visitors to Brunel's ss Great Britain can now upload their own reviews, pictures and videos to the museums website. Until now, visitors to the ship have only been able to write comments in a book or email them to the ss Great Britain Trust. But now they can share their experiences through a new, cutting-edge multimedia system called Visitor Review, developed by Bristol-based company Digital Visitor.
The ss Great Britain is the first visitor attraction in the country to adopt the reviewing system. Sophina Jagot, marketing officer for the ss Great Britain, who has been leading the project, said: "This technology provides visitors with the opportunity to upload their reviews, pictures and videos, and rate others' contributions. It is adding a new dimension to our website - we are very much trying to look at new technology and ways of reaching people to get away from the perception that the ss Great Britain is just a ship. But it was at the forefront of martitime technology, and we want people to be able to experience it in different ways. Staff and volunteers are very proud that once again Brunel's ss Great Britain is adopting cutting-edge technology - more than 160 years after the ship's launch."
Anthony Rawlins, director of Digital Visitor, which also works with The National Trust, said: "We are delighted to be working with such an icon of the city and one of the country's leading tourist attractions. User-generated content will become a key part of most marketing plans and it's great that the ss Great Britain is the first attraction to embrace this technology".
