Digital Visitor is delighted to announce that it has been appointed by National Museums Scotland to record the amazing transformation of the Royal Museum building in Edinburgh. This exciting project has an investment of £46.4m and will last three years with Digital Visitor producing a series of videos to capture the key moments.
The Royal Museum building is a much-loved Edinburgh landmark which brings together the cultures of Scotland and the world. With an impressive art, science and natural history collection, The Royal Museum building attracts a huge number of visitors to the capital and is part of the flagship site of the National Museums of Scotland. The museum has seen guests through its doors for over 150 years, but as the museum stands, the building no longer provides an adequate home for such a world-class collection. The exhibitions are dated, access to the building is difficult and support for learning is limited.
In a bid to change this, the Royal Museum Project (RMP) is an exciting £46.4 million project to transform the museum. Digital Visitor have won the contract to document the entire process which will take the company on a journey from its initial stages in 2008 to the new museum launch date in 2011.
With public funding secured by the Heritage Lottery Fund and The Scottish Government, the RMP will see the reinvention of the museum, including a world-class exhibition centre, new learning zones and better public access to the venue. Most visitors only see a fraction of the museum’s collection, but with the transformation The Noyal Museum of Scotland will be able to better translate their facilities to their visitors and ensure a greater experience for all.
Susan Gray, Communications Manager for National Museums Scotland commented, 'This is a very ambitious and exciting project for National Museums Scotland and we want to make sure we record this amazing transformation for people to see.'
'Digital Visitor was appointed to work with us on this project because we want to work with a video production company that understands the leisure and tourism industry,' Susan added.
'Digital Visitor is thrilled and excited to have the opportunity to work with National Museums Scotland on such a prestigious project' commented Simon Jones, Marketing Director of Digital Visitor. 'This will only enhance our reputation as the UK's leading provider of video marketing services to the leisure and tourism industry.
